Computer related babble

Some of you may not get too into the computer thing, but I know you use them.  If you didn't, you wouldn't be here.

 

That being said, I wanted to start a thread about computer related things and I'm starting with Internet Explorer 9.  Has anyone been brave enough to install it and give it a try yet?  If not, what is your browser of choice?

 

Mostly for work I have to use IE because we use Microsft CRM (I know there is a Firefox add on) and all the sites we use are programmed with IE in mind.  When at home, I prefer Chrome as it seems to run much faster.

Chrome is pretty much based off of Firefox and IE 9 seems to be headed that way as well. I've used it on occasion, but it's not my favorite. I guess I'm just a creature of habit and have been using IE since version 1 with Windows 95

Fuck IE. I have Chrome, it's not bad, but I've been using Firefox for years. Have no desire to change that.

I'm currently using Chrome and Firefox. Firefox is a huge system sucker, whereas Chrome seems prone to weird errors. Neither is perfect, but both are better than IE imo.

I have installed IE 9 and I will give it to them with the fact it has lost some weight (aka less bloated) and they have some nice ideas in theory. For your average grandmother who knows diddly squat its awesome but they've just done the standard microsoft repackaging and resale bit.

I prefer firefox and chrome, firefox over chrome an example chrome doesn't handle logmein very well.

I've found Chrome works incredibly well if you are using a netbook also. I still read about issues Chrome has with security so i won't use it for anything with sensitive information like banking or important passworded type things.

IE9 runs WAY faster than 8 but I've run into issues with autocompletes not working right and a few other small things. All in all, it hasn't been too bad just yet.

I would list my alienware specs, but I don't know them. It's already a dated system so I doubt anyone would be impressed anyhoo. All I can tell you is it has one of the best processors for it's time (according to Ostej), a GTX 250 super clocked, and 6 gigs of ram which I'm considering upgrading to 8 gigs just for the lolz.

I don't put any added software on it and I don't surf the internet on it so it runs like a fucking champ.

My lappy is decent. Nothing great by any means. It was an upper end lappy when I bought it, but that was a year and a half ago.

My wife's lappy is garbage.

My other PC is worse than garbage.

My ipad is awesome, but it's a tablet. There is only so much you can do with a tablet.
