Don't Drink the Milk

I'm throwing this out there to see if anyone is interested.  I had this idea the other day, but I'm not sure if it'd be fun or worthwhile to organize, so let me know and if there's enough interest we'll run it.

I propose a Reverse Gamerscore Whore Challenge.  Basically, it's like a gamerscore challenge, but one in which you have to avoid earning achievements.  Here are the rules:

1. A start date will be announced.  Anytime on or after that start date, the participants will make a new silver account (which is free, though you can upgrade it to gold if you really want to), and send a friend request to me on that GT, as well as a message through Milk telling me they want to register that tag in the competition.  At this point I'll add it, verify that it has 0 gamerscore, then send an email back giving the go-ahead to start the contest.

2. The contest will run a significant amount of time given it's larger scale than most (6 months?).

3.  Once the go-ahead is given, each player will play games on their alternate gamertag, attempting to finish the single-player campaign.  During this time, the player must avoid earning achievements while finishing the game.  However, there must be an achievement earned at the end of the game showing it's completed, that way the completion of the game is verifyable.

4. The choice of games will be up to the player, but it's best to focus on shorter games that reward little gamerscore along the way, or has easily avoidable achievements.  Games must be the full version of any retail Xbox 360 game, or any full version XBLA title.  You can play on any difficulty as long as it has a game completion achievement.

5. At the end of the contest, each player will submit a list via the site of all the games they completed on that tag during the contest.  These games will be verified to see if the "completed game" achievements are unlocked.

6. Each completed retail game will earn the player 1000 points.  Each completed XBLA game will earn 200 points.  However, the total gamerscore of the contest gamertag will be subtracted from your score, whether that score comes from a completed game or not.  Highest total points wins.

7. The winner will be announced and will win a prize.  The prize will likely be fairly large (any retail game $60 or less?) since it's a long contest.

Let me know what you think.  Would this be a good contest or a shitty one?  Do you see any potential problems or need anything clarified in the rules?  Any other suggestions?  If this works out we may start it Jan 1 2011 or even sooner if people want to start sooner.

IMO, Far Cry 2 is fairly generic open world fare. You spend a lot of time in Savannah/Jungle type terrain in the parts I've played. If you enjoy open world games, then you'll like this one fine. I think that pretty well sums it up.
hmmm sounds like a might enjoy it. maybe i will pick it up someday. by the way i have enjoyed the little bit of halo wars that i got to play last night thanks fellas!
It's not bad at all. It's not epic by any means. It's a whole lot of driving around on a gigantic map. The combat is done pretty good. The graphics are pretty well done. The missions are a little repetitive. It's kind of a more casual GTA type game. Less side missiony shit to do, lots of exploring. FPS. Driving mechanics aren't terrible, but they aren't great either. I got it real cheap on a GF discount. I'm not disappointed at all for the money I have invested in it. I think I got it for about 10 bucks. It's worth up to $25 to $30 without feeling like you got ripped off IMO.

Meh, this seems like too much of a beating for me. Besides, once I finish Far Cry 2, I think I'm done with the xbox for awhile. I'm not planning to start any new games until Cat. I'd be up for some MP RDR or L4D or something, but I'm phasing out of the box for awhile.
Can't blame ya, but it's really not that bad. It's just not a $60 game by any means. It's one of those that if you can get it under $30 then it isn't too bad. Like Riddick, GB, or C&C 3. None of those are worth $60, but weren't bad for under $30 IMO.

It's not THAT bad. Your view is definitely limited and if you try to use the map at the same time it can be a beating, but nothing that can't be dealt with. The driving is the worst part of the game no doubt.

It's a B game. It's not epic, but it's good. I'll say so far that it's one of the better B games. To me it's about on par with Ghost Busters. They both look real good, but there just isn't a whole lot of substance to either one. A lot of rinse/repeat.

I remember that game being cool but had to stop playing it rather quickly. The game made me motion sick from all the driving. The view has to be in first person when you're driving, from inside the car. I don't know, it made me sick, other games don't though. strange. Fuck. getting old.

"I think I'm burning out on D3. It's going to be a push just to finish it on normal. I'm towards the end of Act 3 I believe. It's just so monotonous. Story is fucking great, I'll give it that. But I'm not much of a story…"

"lmao That sucks dude, but actually works to my benefit. If you came on singing it's praises, it probably would have pushed me off the fence on it. "
