My grandmother passed away last Tuesday. As matriarch of the family, her house was the gathering place for the family holidays.
She never got her drivers license. She never played with a computer. She wouldn’t know what an Xbox was if you set it in front of her. I can say with reasonable certainty that she never once played a video game. At least to my knowledge anyways.
However, she LOVED solitaire. Old school gaming at it’s best. This makes her a gamer in my opinion, and thus one of us. However, I shutter to think if she ever saw anything I wrote on this website. (Sorry grandmother.)
I remember she would have a couple of decks of cards on the table at all times. Not even full sized
cards, but the little ones that are about 1/3 the size of a normal card. She
would play all the time. As a kid, I would grab a deck and play at the table as well. It was good times.
I don’t want to bring the mood down. Just sharing with my friends. I’m not going to put a comment section on this blog because I’ve dealt with the loss and I’m not looking for sympathy.
All I ask is that if you see a deck of cards lying around, and you feel like doing so, win a game for grandmother.
